# Area chart

> Visualize your data with an area chart

Use `/area` to create an area chart — a filled line chart for showing volume over time.

## How to use

1. Type `/area` and press **Space**.
2. Describe what to visualize — for example, *"cumulative signups by week"*.
3. Grapple creates the chart and navigates you to it.

Or pick **Create from View** to build a chart from an existing view.

## Tips

* Area charts emphasize magnitude over time.
* Wait for materialization to reach **up to date** before the chart loads data.
